This intro class will give you a broad understanding of composites with a small amount of hands on experience. It will also give you the confidence to be able to research more on your own, and learn other means and methods to produce more complex and quality parts.   

The first hour of the class will be going over the basics of composites. I will have a few materials to pass around as well as a presentation. THIS PART IS FREE. Anyone is welcome to sit in and participate in this part at no cost. We will be talking about the materials used in composites as well as different methods used to solve different problems. For the second half of the class, we will be making a basic shape out of fiberglass, and everyone will be following along and doing it themselves. We will be using the wet lay up method, also known as hand lay up. 

Recommended for ages 18+

The resin will take a full day to cure, so parts may need to be left at the Roswell Firelabs for up to 24 hours after the class before they can be picked up.
