11:00AM - 04:00PM: Intro to Book Making and Book Binding

In this class, we will be constructing a hardcover journal by hand. The book cover will be handcrafted by you, not made from an altered book. The journal you’ll be creating will measure 8.75” by 5.75” with a 1.75” rounded spine. You will learn how to bind a book using the hollow back binding method. At the end of the course, you’ll have a beautiful blank journal to bring home with you.

All materials needed for the construction and binding of your book will be provided and include book boards, fabric, waxed linen thread, acrylic paint, glue, cover art, hand dyed aged paper, chipboard, cardstock, paint brushes, awl, bone folder, needle, scissors, Mod Podge, glue, decorative metal label holder, sand paper, and binding templates.

We will be painting, sanding, and glueing. So please wear clothing you’re ok with perhaps getting messy.
