Are you new to the Firelabs?  Have you taken the safety orientation?  Have you built a cutting board or box?  Are you wanting to build with joinery other than pocket screws and biscuits? Do you even know the difference between pocket screws, biscuits, mortise and tenon and domino? Can you not yet afford a Domino?  Are you trying to figure out what type of joinery to use and which tools to use to make it?  Are you looking for that next project that will build your woodworking skills and take your furniture building to new levels?  Then come and join us and build a table using mortise and tenon joinery.

This class is designed for beginning and intermediate woodworkers who are looking for that next challenge and want to learn how to incorporate mortise and tenon joinery into your finished product.  This will be a hands-on class that will cover design, cut lists, joinery plan, layout, mortising, tenoning, fitting, tapering, and embellishing your work.  While the majority of the class will be in the shop there will be some time spent in the classroom where we will draw up our design before we cut the wood.  By the end of the class, you will have a completed table (ready for the finish) that will last for generations and you will have the knowledge of how to use mortise and tenon joinery and how to adapt it to your future woodworking projects. You will learn a foundation that can be adapted to any style of furniture.  Note: Finishing techniques will be discussed briefly but will not be done in this class. All materials will be provided.  Participants are encouraged to bring their own measuring and marking tools as well as sharp chisels.
