Woodturning Studio

The Woodturning Studio holds Roswell Firelabs' lathes, tool grinder, and turning accessories — a focused space for spindle and bowl turning, separate from the main woodshop floor. Some members turn natural wood; others work with epoxy resin in combination with wood. Both are welcome here.

SAFETY ESSENTIALS
	Wear eye protection (ANSI Z87 preferred) at all times.
	Wear closed-toe shoes at all times.
	Secure loose hair, clothing, and accessories at all times.
	Do not wear gloves when operating the lathes.
	Wear hearing protection as needed.
	Wear breathing protection where fine particulate is present.

Training & Certification

Curated and trustworthy commercial turning training videos are pinned in the Firelabs Turning channel. Tuition based turning classes are available at local woodworking stores. Fred occasionally offers tuition free classes but can only take two students at a time and it takes several multi-hour sessions to complete the class. Our Slack community is friendly and will try to help if you have specific questions.
